Hello. My name is Honoka.

This time, I will write about what I found out that only people with a mental illness can sympathize with it.

1. I don’t think this suffering will end

When it comes to mental illness, we wonder if there is no end to pain and suffering.

If these hard days don’t end, we might even think about dying.

People without mental illness are often optimistic that even if they catch a cold, they will be cured in a few days, but if they have a mental illness, they will say, “What if I have a serious illness? Then what can I do…?”

This is one of the symptoms called “mental tunnel vision” and is known to occur frequently in people who are thinking of suicide.

A healthy person may think, “There are other options besides suicide. I can recover by leaving the company, I can rest for myself, and giving myself time to do only what I like.” If you have mental illness, you will only think “I want to die and this is the only way to end this pain …”.

If you are in this situation, I strongly recommend that you visit a psychiatry as soon as possible.

2. I don’t know if the current symptoms are side effects of the drug or illness

I’m having trouble, for example, when my hands tremble, whether it’s a symptom of anxiety-induced mental illness, a symptom of another illness, or a side effect of a drug, or withdrawal symptoms (when I reduce my medication). It is not possible to know if it is a symptom.

Symptoms such as headache, palpitation, and nausea can occur due to mental illness, side effects, and withdrawal symptoms, so if you have other serious illnesses, you will be delayed in going to the hospital.

When a person with a mental illness is taking the drug, polypharmacy (taking many types of drugs) and prescription drug dependence (physically and mentally dependent on the prescribed drug) Yes, it makes accurate diagnosis and medication difficult.

For example, if you take a drug that has side effects that cause nausea and you also take anti-nausea, and that anti-nausea has other side effects, you must take another drug to control it. It will end up.

This is a problem in Japanese (and some of country) psychiatry.

In fact, those who “have been given more than 4 new medications at a time” and “take more than 10 medications in psychiatry” should consider a second opinion.

3. It becomes difficult to adjust the rhythm of life

If you have a mental illness, you will not be able to sleep at night and it will be depressing to wake up in the morning.

For example, in the case of orthostatic dysregulation and autonomic imbalance, people generally tend to wake up in the evening instead of waking up in the morning.

Depression also makes you depressed in the morning and you can’t get up.

If you have insomnia, you can’t sleep at night, which sounds the next morning.

If you have hypersomnia (a disease that causes you to fall asleep too much or become drowsy during the day), you may take a nap during the day because of your drowsiness.

As you can see, depending on the illness, the sleep rhythm tends to be disrupted.

Moreover, such illnesses are often thought or said to be “lazy,” “insufficient efforts by the person,” or “because of the weakness of the person,” and tend to be underestimated as a symptom of the illness. Even though they are actually symptoms of the same illness as “having diarrhea,” “having a fever,” or “having allergies,” they are misunderstood and become even more ill.

There is a feeling of being “sucked”

Have you ever heard the phrase, “I’m afraid to take the train to work, because when I go home, the train feels like I’m being sucked on the railroad tracks.” Or have you actually had such an experience?

Such a situation is quite dangerous if it is actually left alone.

Even if you don’t think about “death” or “suicide”, it is often the case that your body unknowingly behaves like that when you have a mental illness.

The same applies not only to railroad tracks, but also to the balconies and bridges of tall buildings.

Therefore, it is rather dangerous to take a person with such symptoms for a walk alone.

In fact, I hear that most of the people who jumped into the train and committed suicide were wearing suits and getting ready for work. It is possible that he could not tolerate the sudden “feeling of being sucked” and committed suicide impulsively.

However, suicide is not caused by a temporary impulse, but stress and factors are often accumulated before that.

5. Lonely battle

Mental illness makes it difficult to believe in people, becomes a victim of the prejudice that society has toward mental illness, and closes the mind that “no one can understand it anyway.” Often there are cases.

As a result, you may work without saying that you have a mental illness in the workplace, which is a lonely battle.

Being lonely makes you more sick.

Therefore, there are many self-help groups in the world.

The easiest way to get involved is on Facebook. There are many things, such as by disease or in a group of women only.
