I published my first book about minimalism, and it can be found on Amazon (IT-JP-EN and more!) Many readers asked me about the most important things to be a minimalist. My answer is quite simple. Just throw away unnecessary things.

But how? Also, this answer is quite simple: throw away 5 things in a day. By doing so, we can put minimalism as a daily routine and it’s so important to go on every day for a long time. Minimalism can not be done in one day at all, it takes a lot of time. But it has a value to become a minimalist with all this cost of time, I really happy that I learned (only a little, I think) about minimalism and simple life. Of course, you can throw away only one thing in your day but it will take a lot of time, so I suggest the “5 things rule” not one or ten, as it will make you tired. Repeat, to be a minimalist you have to take a lot of time. But by doing this “5 things rule”, you will achieve your goal to be aa minimalist and you can enjoy your simple life. Just remember one thing: less is more.

Here are examples of the things you must declutter right now. Hope it helps you to get the motivation to be a minimalist.

  1. Receipt, memo, tissue paper
  2. expired food
  3. things that you didn’t use for a year or more
  4. too many same things (ex. 10 ballpoint pens)
  5. album, photos, timetable of the trip
  6. broken things
  7. too many apps on your smartphone or PC
  8. too much paper
  9. too many snacks, above all the one that will damage your health
  10. tobacco
